"Never Outshine the Master"

"Never Outshine the Master"

"Never Outshine the Master" is the first law in Robert Greene’s influential work, *The 48 Laws of Power*. It acts as a key principle for navigating hierarchical structures, especially where ego and authority matter the most. The law warns that you should never appear superior to your superiors. Doing so can trigger their insecurities, leading to their anger and putting your own position at risk.

The main idea rests on a basic truth about human nature, especially among those in power: masters often need to feel they are the smartest and most capable people in the room. This perception strengthens their authority. When a subordinate shows greater talent, intelligence, or charm, it doesn’t just prove their skills. It also highlights the master’s weaknesses, stirring feelings of insecurity, jealousy, and fear of being replaced. This situation rarely ends well for the subordinate, no matter their intentions or the actual worth of their contributions.

Greene uses the story of Nicolas Fouquet, the finance minister to the young King Louis XIV of France, to illustrate this law. To prove his loyalty and wealth, Fouquet hosted an extravagant celebration for the king. However, the lavishness of the event, which surpassed anything the king could organize, did not bring gratitude. Instead, it caused deep resentment and suspicion. Louis viewed Fouquet’s display as a challenge to his own power and a hint of embezzlement. Fouquet was later arrested and imprisoned for life.

The law does not promote incompetence or stagnation. Instead, it encourages strategic thinking. The goal is to help those above you feel secure both intellectually and personally. You can do this by letting them take credit for your ideas, downplaying your own intelligence, and offering suggestions in a way that reminds the master of their own wisdom. Essentially, you should be an effective and skilled asset while making the master look even better.

In today’s context, this law means understanding your workplace culture. It warns against trying to outshine a manager in meetings, correcting a superior openly, or bragging about achievements that surpass those of your leaders. While this may seem contrary to the idea of meritocracy, Greene argues that power dynamics are often emotional rather than rational. Success and advancement frequently rely on managing the ego of those above you, ensuring your light enhances theirs instead of dimming it.

Gazans don't know where to flee to

According to Gaza administration sources, at least six people were killed in an Israeli missile attack on Saturday, including a child.

As usual, there has been an Israeli attack in Gaza today. Like every day, Palestinians have lost their lives in this attack.

According to sources from the Gaza administration, at least six people were killed in an Israeli missile strike on Saturday, including a child. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that since Israel broke the ceasefire on March 18 and resumed attacks on Gaza, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed. In Saturday's attack, two people lost their lives in the Tufa area of Gaza, and two children were injured. Another two were killed in Beit Lahia. A severely injured newborn girl named Sham was brought to the Al-Balah hospital in central Gaza. Sham and her family were injured in the missile strike. Despite undergoing surgery, Sham could not be saved due to the lack of necessary medical facilities in Gaza's hospitals. She died within an hour of the operation. Meanwhile, the so-called safe areas in Khan Younis, including the Al-Mawasi and Shuja'iyya refugee camps, have come under renewed attack. Missiles and shrapnel have targeted the temporary tents of displaced people. On Saturday, the Israeli forces issued new orders to evacuate the area. The Palestinian families who sought refuge in these camps are unsure of where to go next, where they can escape to safety.

There is no safe place left in the narrow Gaza Strip along the Mediterranean coast. On one side is the sea, and on the other, Israel is gradually encroaching on the land along the border. The remaining part to the south, near the Egyptian border, has been systematically destroyed, particularly the city of Rafah, according to Robert J. Pinfold, a professor of international security at King's College London. Recently, Israeli forces announced the completion of work on the Morag Corridor in Rafah, which separates the Gaza Strip from Rafah. In a media interview, Professor Pinfold stated that Israel has built the Morag Corridor to fully control Hamas and position its own pieces strategically. This corridor has been created as part of a long-term plan, ensuring that the Gaza Strip remains completely under Israeli surveillance.

Autism can be diagnosed with 81 percent accuracy! Some bacteria will help, claims study

Various studies are underway on methods to accurately diagnose autism. Researchers have presented a study report on one of these methods.

Just because a child is not behaving like five other children does not mean that he is autistic. Many parents also ignore the behavior of a child with autism, considering it to be just some mental problem. It is difficult to understand whether behavioral or intellectual development disorders are symptoms of autism. In most cases, parents cannot accept that there are some problems in the child's normal growth. Proper treatment is not provided at the right time. Many parents think that the child will get better when he grows up. As a result, the more days the disease is detected, the more late it is. Various studies are being conducted on the method of diagnosing autism correctly. Among them, researchers have presented a survey report on one method.

By identifying the bacteria that live in the mouth, it will be possible to detect whether autism is present or not. This is what researchers from the Department of Psychology and Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong have claimed. The test is being conducted on many children in America and Hong Kong. Scientists have found 11 species of bacteria by examining samples taken from the mouths of autistic children, the presence of which will prove whether the child is autistic or not.

The news of this study has been published in the ‘Journal of Dentistry’. The researchers claim that this method can identify autism with 81 percent accuracy. At least 49 autistic children in Hong Kong have been identified in this way. The process of diagnosing autism with this special method is called ‘microbiome biomarker’.

In addition to mental problems, children with autism also have various physical problems. For example, they will not want to get rid of stomach diseases, they will have frequent stomach upsets, and the body's immune system will be weak. In that case, there will be an infection of such a type of bacteria that can be detected by looking at them. Researchers have chosen this method. They say that if children are examined regularly, it is possible to identify many diseases.

There is no treatment for autism yet. If symptoms of autism appear in a child, certain therapies are given, such as 'occupational therapy', 'speech therapy', 'special educator learning therapy'. Researchers say that if the disease is detected at an early stage, a clearer idea can be obtained about how it can be treated. They said that this research is being done with that aim.

Diabetes can rob you of your eyesight! The number of people affected is increasing in the country, researchers warn

The organ most affected by diabetes is the eyes. Many people will be shocked to hear that uncontrolled diabetes can lead to vision loss.

Panic sets in as soon as diabetes is diagnosed. It seems like a lot of things have been cut out of your life in an instant. Especially those who love to eat have more problems. Doctors will tell you what you can eat and what you can't. Apart from that, diabetes doesn't come alone, it comes with various other physical problems. It damages the heart, liver, and kidneys. And the organ that is most damaged is the eyes. Many people will be shocked to hear that uncontrolled diabetes can even lead to vision loss. Many people in India have been affected by diseases like vision loss due to diabetes. And this number is increasing.

In a study conducted since 2022, researchers have claimed that diabetes can cause blurred vision or even loss of vision. A research paper on this subject has been published in the medical journal 'The Lancet'. Researchers said that out of at least 8,000 diabetic patients in India, 12.5 percent suffer from vision problems. Many have damage to the retina. Of these, at least 4 percent are in a critical condition.

When the retina is damaged due to diabetes, it is called 'diabetic retinopathy' in medical terms. The retina is the most sensitive screen of the eye. Light rays enter the eye and are reflected by the retina, creating visibility. Due to anemia or lack of oxygen, the fine blood vessels of the retina become blocked. Sometimes, water or oil-like substances accumulate in the blood vessels, forming a swollen area. Blood clots there, causing irritation in the eye, and sometimes holes form in the blood vessels and blood leaks out. As a result, light rays are prevented from entering the eye. Vision gradually becomes blurred. All these problems can occur due to diabetes.

The problem starts with eye pain. There is difficulty in seeing not only distant objects, but also near objects. There is also difficulty in seeing both sides of the scene at times. The patient cannot distinguish colors, suddenly seeing darkness all around, not being able to see a specific part, and seeing sudden flashes of light - all these are also symptoms of diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetics should consult a doctor immediately if they experience such problems in their eyes. In this case, doctors diagnose the disease through angiography, eye scan. Laser therapy, eye injections or steroid injections are also used to try to restore vision to its previous state. If you get your eyes checked every six months, the risk of danger will be much less.

Do you really need a separate cream to remove dark circles under your eyes? Doctor answers

According to Gurugram-based dermatologist Priyanka Sharma, the skin under the eyes is slightly thinner than the rest of the face. It also has fewer oil glands and is more prone to dryness.

In a busy life, examples of lack of sleep, mental stress, and lack of rest are now common in every household. And its effects are affecting the body. Skin health is also not left out. As a result, the eyes look tired all the time, with dark circles under the eyes and puffiness. Taking advantage of that, new cosmetics are coming into the market. The demand for 'under eye cream' or 'eye cream' has increased to restore the brightness of the eyes. But is there a need for specific products to care for specific areas of the face? What is the difference between 'under eye cream' and other creams or moisturizers?

Gurugram-based dermatologist Priyanka Sharma answers. According to her, the skin under the eyes is thinner than the rest of the face. There are fewer oil glands there and the area is more prone to dryness. This is why when the skin shows signs of aging, it is the first thing that shows up. From fine lines to dehydration, the eyes are the first to show it. While light, hydrating face moisturizers can be used around the eyes, eye creams are specifically designed to address the under-eye area. The caffeine in these creams helps reduce puffiness, peptides help in collagen production and reduce fine lines. Vitamin C also has the ability to remove dark circles under the eyes.

Compared to other creams, applying an ‘under eye cream’ or ‘eye cream’ also reduces irritation in the eyes. There is less chance of discomfort. Ingredients like vitamin C and niacinamide can also be effective in treating stubborn dark circles under the eyes. Under eye creams contain hyaluronic acid to reduce dryness.

But yes, you don’t always need a separate eye cream. If your regular face moisturizer is effective enough to replenish and nourish your skin, then it is also beneficial in treating dryness and dark circles under the eyes. In that case, you may not need additional products.

To relieve digestive problems, you can take ginger-turmeric shots regularly every day.

Heartburn occurs when you eat something in the summer? If you have heartburn, you can take 3 types of shots, not medicine

Gas and heartburn problems increase in summer. Eating a little heavy food makes your stomach growl. Eating oily and spicy food is not a problem. Indigestion is a sure thing. So, if you have a heartburn, should you take a handful of antacids? Don't take them at all. Instead, if you follow some very simple rules, you can get rid of gas and heartburn. To eliminate digestive problems, you can drink ginger-turmeric shot regularly every day. This drink works as a detox, but to reduce heartburn, you have to drink it in a special way.

Not everyone has the same eating habits. Some people like to eat light food, while others are used to eating spicy food. No matter what you eat, a certain acid is always secreted in the stomach to digest it. If you stay on an empty stomach for a long time or eat spicy food, the secretion of this acid increases. Then it feels like the acid is coming up through the throat. Doctors call this problem 'acid reflux'. Those who have this problem have to take medicine every morning on an empty stomach or with food. In that case, the problem can be solved without taking medicine. Find out how.

For digestion

Take 1/4 cup of grated ginger, half a cup of raw turmeric. Mix half a cup of lemon juice with it. Mix one cup of water in this mixture and dilute it a little. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of black pepper powder. Once all the ingredients are mixed, keep it in the refrigerator. Drinking 30-50 milliliters or three to four spoons of this drink every day will relieve the problem of heartburn. You can benefit from drinking this shot instead of soft drinks after eating something heavy.

To reduce acid reflux

Mix 1/4 cup of grated ginger with 1/4 cup of raw turmeric and make a paste. Add half a teaspoon of lemon juice, half a teaspoon of orange juice, and half a teaspoon of black pepper powder to it. Blend all the ingredients and add one cup of water to it. You can add one teaspoon of honey to enhance the taste. Taking this shot every morning and evening will greatly reduce the problem of acid reflux.

Green Detox Shot

To increase digestion and keep your stomach healthy, you can drink one cup of Green Detox Shot every day. This drink can remove toxins from the body. To make it, blend half a cup of grated ginger, half a cup of grated turmeric, and half a cup of cucumber slices in a mixer. Add half a teaspoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, half a teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix all the ingredients and keep them in the refrigerator. Drinking half a cup of this drink will cure stomach problems. It will keep your stomach cool on hot days.

This fungus thrives when the body is weak. Patients with diabetes, those who have been in the ICU for a long time, and those undergoing chemotherapy are at risk.

Fear of fungal diseases is growing, diabetes, cancer patients at risk, warns WHO

Immediately after Covid, there was panic about the infection of black fungus. Once again, concerns are growing about various infectious diseases caused by fungi. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also issued guidelines warning about this. It clearly states that infectious fungi can be fatal if neglected. The guidelines contain basic information about identifying fungal infections and what to do.

WHO says that this fungus mainly thrives when the body is weak. Diabetics, patients who have been in the ICU for a long time, steroid users for a long time, and people with co-morbidities are at risk of fungal infection. This infection is usually spread to the human body through food, soil, and air.

The risk of fungal infection in patients undergoing cancer treatment and chemotherapy is increasing. Not only that, but patients with HIV or organ transplants are also at risk. If the hospital environment is not clean, or if the medical system is neglected, the risk of such diseases will increase further, according to the World Health Organization guidelines.

It has been reported that fungal diseases can cause fever, pain in the eyes and nose, headache, discoloration of the skin of the nose, darkening of the lips, difficulty in seeing, chest pain, shortness of breath, phlegm, vomiting blood, and even mental imbalance. Doctors are also saying that if an infection is suspected, it is necessary to get the necessary tests done without wasting any time.

Energy drinks, like energy drinks, can help relieve fatigue in a short time, but it's important to be aware of their side effects.

Does drinking energy drinks before exercise increase the risk of heart attack? Why do researchers say?

Drinks like energy drinks and sports drinks were not popular among the common people at one time. Those who played sports on the field were used to drinking such drinks. But now people are very aware of exercise and fitness. Energy drinks are now a very familiar name. Many people go to exercise wearing fashionable gym clothes and carrying a bottle of energy drink in their hands. Especially young people buy energy drinks on the spot. They rely more on energy drinks to increase their energy before going to the gym and sweating. But the thing is, are energy drinks really beneficial? Scientists have found a link with heart disease.

A study published by the country's National Institutes of Health has stated that drinking too much energy drinks increases the risk of heart attack. Especially if someone drinks these drinks and goes for heavy exercise or does cardio at the gym, then the risk of heart disease will increase.

Why do researchers say this?

There are many reasons for this. Even a small amount of energy drink contains 150-300 milligrams of caffeine per can. If this caffeine continues to enter the body every day, it affects the central nervous system. It also causes problems with blood circulation. This can increase the heart rate. Irregular heartbeat can cause a heart attack.

If you drink too much energy drinks, your digestion will be weak, and the problems of gas, heartburn, and acid reflux will increase many times. The problems of obesity, tooth decay, migraines, and diabetes will increase.

Sleeping problems occur when you drink energy drinks. It has also been seen that blood sugar levels have increased many times after drinking energy drinks day after day. Along with this, the problem of insomnia has also arisen. Energy drinks also damage the kidneys.

Sipping an energy drink instantly removes all fatigue. The body feels quite refreshed. You get the energy to work hard again. And many people are causing danger by falling into the trap of getting alert quickly. This energy drink is silently damaging the heart. Therefore, it is advised to be careful.

29 IPS officers from various places including Howrah, Hooghly, Barrackpore, Malda, Murshidabad, Siliguri have been given special duties since Saturday. They will remain on that duty till next Monday.

60 processions in Kolkata on Ram Navami, administration ready to prevent planned unrest, 29 IPS officers to remain in charge in the state

Ram Navami is next Sunday. On that occasion, 3,500 to 4,000 police personnel are being kept in charge of security in Kolkata. And on that day, 29 IPS officers will be on special duty across the state. According to police sources, officers of the rank of DC, Joint Director of Police and others will be present in the old and big procession in the heart of the city. Apart from that, the responsibilities are being divided among the police officers including OC, DC, AC, Joint CP. There will be police picketing on every road where the procession will go. Surveillance is being arranged through drones, CCTV and videography.

In fact, just as the BJP has a procession on the occasion of Ram Navami, various Hindutva organizations have called for processions. Again, the Trinamool is also taking to the streets on Ram Navami. Not only Kolkata, the state's ruling party will also take out processions in areas where Hindi-speaking people live in large numbers, such as Asansol and Siliguri. Trinamool councilors are distributing leaflets from house to house in Jalpaiguri again, inviting people to take part in the Ram Navami procession. Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma has said that if people walk on the city streets with weapons during the Ram Navami procession, the police will take legal action. However, the Chief Minister has said that processions can be held according to the 'system'. According to Kolkata Police sources, their quick response team will be ready on that day. Senior officers will be present at five or six places where large processions are held, including Hastings, Entali, and Kashipur. There will be a system of patrolling on bikes. At the same time, police personnel will accompany the procession. In fact, Kolkata Police is determined to prevent any isolated incidents and unrest on the day of Ram Navami. Police Commissioner Verma will hold a meeting with officers at Lalbazar at 12 noon on Saturday to discuss the matter.

According to a police source, last year, around 60 processions were held in Kolkata on Ram Navami. This time too, the number is expected to remain the same. And 29 IPS officers of the police have been given special duty since Saturday in various places including Howrah, Hooghly, Barrackpore, Malda, Murshidabad, Siliguri. They will be on that duty till next Monday.

It is worth noting that, regarding the procession on Ram Navami, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said, "Punjabis also take kirpan. You can definitely do it according to the system." Police Minister Mamata added, "Many of us also take processions on Ram Navami. I have no objection to that. We want it to be peaceful (procession)."

After Thursday's verdict, doubts have arisen about whether many schools will have science departments. Birbhum's Nalhati High School for Girls has no life science teacher after the verdict.

The headmaster is holding a bell, the headmistress is opening the door.

At least 26,000 people lost their jobs in one order. School authorities are facing problems as the jobs of so many teachers and education workers have been cancelled in one go. On Friday, teachers swept the school in some places, and rang the bell in others. In addition, there is uncertainty about how multiple subjects will be taught in higher secondary schools and whether it will affect the results of the higher secondary exams.

Sources claim that thousands of unemployed teachers did not go to school on this day. Although Education Minister Bratya Basu said on this day, "There is no information that 17 thousand teachers are not going to school. What should teachers do, what should not be done - Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. She gave a humanitarian message to the unemployed. I appeal to those teachers, have faith in the Chief Minister. "

However, after Thursday's verdict, doubts have arisen about whether there will be a science department in many schools. There was no life science teacher at Nalhati High School for Girls in Birbhum after the verdict. Of the six teachers who lost their jobs at Hamiltonganj High School in Alipurduar, three taught chemistry, mathematics and biology. Higher Secondary Education Parliament sources claim that there are 34 subjects in higher secondary, including 'data science' and artificial intelligence, which are not taught at the secondary level. Trained teachers are out of jobs because of teaching all that. As a result, there may be problems in teaching all those subjects.

An official of the Board of Secondary Education claims that the announcement of the results of the secondary school will not be delayed due to the cancellation of the jobs of teachers. However, the president of the Higher Secondary Education Council, Chiranjeev Bhattacharya, said, "There may be problems with checking the records in higher secondary schools. Of those who are checking the records, 10 to 15 percent of the teachers are on the list of those whose jobs have been cancelled."

According to parliament sources, there are 20-25 examiners under the chief examiners of the higher secondary examination in the state. It has happened that seven-eight examiners returned the records to one chief examiner after knowing that the jobs have been cancelled. However, the Speaker of the Parliament claimed, “One or two teachers who lost their jobs have returned their accounts to the Chief Examiner.”

At Sahapur High School in Ilambazar, Birbhum, as the jobs of two educationists were cancelled, Headmaster Salauddin Ahmed had to do everything from opening the school’s lock on Friday to ringing the bell after the class exams and closing the classrooms after the school. Similarly, at Udaipur Girls High School in Raiganj, Headmistress Nabanita Sarkar opened the school’s doors today as two fourth-grade staff lost their jobs.

Out of 41 teachers at Ganges High School (Hindi medium) in Banshberia, Hooghly, 15 were cancelled. They did not come to school on Friday. Four of the rest did not come because they were on ‘leave’. Headmistress Vishal Tiwari provided ‘guards’ during the exams to manage the situation. He said, "I don't know how long we can continue like this!" Many school authorities are considering temporarily hiring part-time teachers to fill the shortage of teachers and education workers. Again, the fifth and sixth grade departments have been combined in the Kasthashali Nivanani High School in Purbasthali, East Burdwan. So that teachers can take additional classes in grades nine and ten.

Out of 44 teachers at the Hajinagar Adarsh Hindi School in the Barrackpore Industrial Area, 18 have lost their jobs. A section of 3,500 students went to school today and demanded that teachers be hired immediately to keep teaching normal. The opposite picture is at Sutir Bahutali High School in Murshidabad and Kurumba High School in Aushgram, East Burdwan. The in-charge teacher (TIC) of Sutir School, Ziaul Haque, and the in-charge teacher of Aushgram School, Devdas Singh—both are jobless. Both of them said, "Exams are going on in the school. How can I leave the responsibility of the school in this situation?"

Trump's tariff war

'China made a mistake, they are scared'! Trump not happy with Beijing's decision to impose retaliatory tariffs

China has imposed an additional 34 percent tariff on goods imported from the United States! After this decision was made public, US President Donald Trump did not delay in reacting. He made it clear that China made a mistake by imposing additional tariffs on American goods.

Trump announced tariffs on various countries on Wednesday. China was also on the list. As announced by Trump, an additional 34 percent tariff will be levied on Chinese products imported into the American market. Beijing made it clear on Friday that America did not take this decision well. They also announced the imposition of additional tariffs on American products in equal amounts.

Not only that, in response to Trump's decision, Xi Jinping's Ministry of Commerce has also tightened the export of Chinese products. Jinping has decided to control the export of at least seven minerals (rare earth elements). These include important minerals like gadolinium and yttrium. This does not end here, 11 American companies have been banned from trading in China, calling them 'untrustworthy'. Jinping's Ministry of Commerce has said that they will not be able to trade with any Chinese company.

Trump is unhappy with China's decision. He has condemned Beijing's tariff imposition on his social media. At the same time, he said, China is scared, they made a mistake. They can't do this.

After becoming the US president for the second time, Trump has launched a tariff war against various countries. As soon as he came to power, he announced that the country that imposes tariffs on American products will impose the same amount of import duties on its products! Similarly, last Wednesday, he imposed different amounts of tariffs on various countries. When imposing tariffs on Chinese products, Trump said, "China imposes a 67 percent tariff on American products. We are giving them some concessions. Their products will be subject to a 34 percent tariff." However, on Thursday, Trump could also be heard talking about a compromise with China on tariffs. He said that if China agrees to sign the TikTok agreement, America can walk the path of a compromise with them on tariffs. But Beijing did not agree to that proposal and announced the imposition of additional tariffs.

Unrest in India's dressing room before Champions Trophy! A cricketer has a disagreement with Gambhir.

The Champions Trophy kicks off on Wednesday, and India is set to face Bangladesh in their first match on Thursday. However, there seems to be some tension brewing in the Indian dressing room. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is reportedly unhappy with coach Gautam Gambhir's decisions regarding the team lineup. This tournament marks the first ICC trophy India is competing in under Gambhir's leadership.

India has brought two wicketkeepers to the tournament: Lokesh Rahul and Rishabh Pant. In the lead-up to the Champions Trophy, India played three one-day matches against England, where Rahul had a rough start, failing to score in the first two games but managing to get 40 runs in the third.

Before the tournament began, Gambhir made it clear that Rahul is his first-choice wicketkeeper. If for any reason Rahul can't play, Pant will step in. Despite Pant's impressive recovery from a car accident that sidelined him for a while, he hasn't had many opportunities in the one-day format, having played just one match. It seems unlikely that he will get a chance during the Champions Trophy either. If Rahul continues to play, Pant may find himself on the bench for the entire tournament.

Sources suggest that Pant is struggling to accept Gambhir's decision. He feels frustrated about not being given a fair shot to prove himself. He believes that if he had been given a few matches and didn't perform, he could accept being left out. Instead, he feels sidelined without a chance to showcase his skills, especially when Rahul, despite his struggles, has been given more opportunities. Pant has even discussed his concerns with some teammates, highlighting the growing unrest in the team.
